Located at No. 36-1, Lingxing Road, Nantou City — adjacent to the Nantou City sanitation department — it is the only public animal shelter in Nantou County, serving all 13 townships of the county. Chiayi City Animal Protection Education Park (嘉義市動物保護教育園區) is operated by the Chiayi City Government Construction Bureau (嘉義市政府建設處) and is the only public animal shelter in Chiayi City. Located at No. 31, Mituo Road, Fangcao Village, East District, Chiayi City, the park offers one of the most comprehensive online service ecosystems of any public shelter in Taiwan. Chiayi County Animal Protection Education Park (嘉義縣動物保護教育園區) is operated by the Chiayi County Livestock Disease Control Center (嘉義縣家畜疾病防治所) and officially opened on September 2, 2022. Located at No. 37-2, Hushanzai, Songshan Village, Minxiong Township — it is the only public animal shelter in Chiayi County. The facility features an architecturally distinctive design: the roof's angled intersections and a central corridor airflow system create natural ventilation that efficiently increases air exchange in the animal enclosures, while semi-open kennel structures give dogs ample movement space and appropriate sunlight. Keelung City Pet Bank (基隆市寵物銀行) is operated by the Keelung City Animal Protection and Disease Prevention Office (基隆市動物保護防疫所) and is the only public animal shelter in Keelung City. Located at No. 45-12, Dahua 3rd Road, Qidu District — adjacent to Xinxin Anle Garden cemetery — the shelter's name "Pet Bank" is unique among Taiwan's public shelters, conveying the idea of animals being temporarily deposited while waiting for adoption. The facility has three dog buildings and a dedicated cat room located within the shelter's medical area, separate from the dog kennels to reduce stress on cats. Keelung City has taken a strict approach to source management: since 2018, no new pet breeding licenses have been issued in the city. The Animal Protection Team prioritizes rescuing injured or at-risk animals rather than mass capture, and offers a trap cage loan service for residents who need to help capture injured stray animals. Yilan County Stray Animal Transit Shelter (宜蘭縣流浪動物中途之家) (unofficial translation — no official English name exists) is operated by the Yilan County Animal and Plant Disease Prevention Office (宜蘭縣動植物防疫所) and is the only public animal shelter in Yilan County. Located at No. 60, Libao Road, Chengxing Village, Wujie Township — in the flat agricultural lowlands of central Yilan, accessible from Luodong — the shelter serves all 12 townships and cities of Yilan County. The facility operates as a transit care station: animals receive dedicated feeding, management, and basic training while in care, before being placed through adoption events, transferred to other shelters, or — for animals with severe injuries — humanely euthanized under the law. Every Wednesday the shelter closes to the public to conduct spay/neuter surgeries, reflecting a commitment to source management. Pingtung County Public Dog and Cat Midway Home is located at No. 1, Xuefu Road, Neipu Township, Pingtung County, inside National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. Unlike many standalone public shelters, this site is notable for being a campus-based midway shelter. The Ministry of Agriculture listing also notes that Taiwan Dog Lovers Association began assisting with the site on September 3, 2018. Most importantly for adopters, the official listing states that animal reclaim and adoption matters for this site are now handled through Pingtung County Animal Home, so visitors should call first to confirm the animal's status, visiting arrangement, and correct handling location.

Changhua County Stray Dog Transit Shelter (彰化縣流浪狗中途之家) (unofficial translation — no official English name exists) is the only public animal shelter in Changhua County, operated by the Changhua County Animal Disease Prevention Office (彰化縣動物防疫所). Located in Yuanlin City — with the entrance accessed via Lane 875, Section 1, Dazhang Road, Fengyuan Township — the shelter serves all 26 townships and districts of Changhua County, housing stray dogs rounded up by township animal control teams as well as surrendered cats. There is no official English name for this facility; the name used here is a working translation by Pawsumés. The shelter runs a Pet Health Passport Program for adopters starting one year after adoption, offers free veterinary services at the shelter, and Changhua County periodically runs free spay/neuter programs for mixed-breed dogs and cats. Note that the shelter is closed every Friday for full disinfection.

New Taipei City Sanzhi District Public Animal Shelter is operated by the New Taipei City Animal Protection and Epidemic Prevention Office. Located on Qingshan Road in Yuanshan Village, Erpingding area, Sanzhi District — near Baisha Anle Garden — it is arguably the most scenically situated public animal shelter in the Pawsumés dataset. During the winter-to-spring blossom season, the road to the shelter is lined with cherry blossoms. The hiking trail at Erpingding behind the shelter is well suited for walking an adopted dog. Located at No. 100, Section 3, Xingnan Road, Zhonghe District — approximately 10 minutes on foot from Nanshijiao MRT Station — the shelter houses stray and surrendered dogs and cats from Zhonghe and surrounding areas.
