Taichung City Animal Shelter Nantu Park (臺中市動物之家南屯園區) is operated by the Taichung City Animal Protection and Epidemic Prevention Office. Located at No. 601, Zhongtai Road, Nantu District — one of two public animal shelters in Taichung City alongside Houli Park — Nantu Park is the more centrally located of the two, near Taichung's main Taiwan Boulevard corridor and accessible by bus as well as private car. Free parking is available. Since Taichung City and County merged in 2010, both Nantu and Houli parks jointly serve all 29 administrative districts of Greater Taichung. The park features multiple large exercise areas where dogs can rotate through outdoor time based on their size, and is noted for carefully photographed animal listings — in the 2016 Taiwan SPCA shelter survey, Taichung City's shelters were rated among the best in Taiwan for animal welfare, with professional photography cited as a standout feature. All animals listed for adoption have been spayed/neutered before adoption. Walk-in only — reservations are not accepted. Adoption is free.

Tainan City Animal Shelter Wanli Station (臺南市動物之家灣裡站) is operated by the Tainan City Animal Disease Prevention and Protection Office (臺南市動物防疫保護處) and is the second of Tainan City's two public animal shelters, alongside Shanhua Station. Located at Lane 580, No. 92, Wannian Road, Shengong Village, South District — within the southern part of Tainan City — the shelter covers approximately 700 ping (about 2,310 square meters) and currently houses around 400 stray animals. The facility features a thoughtfully designed kennel system where each dog enclosure has both an outer area visible to visitors and a private inner zone where dogs can retreat for rest, balancing public visibility with the animals' need for quiet space. Like Shanhua Station, Wanli Station provides comprehensive free veterinary services at the time of adoption — including spay/neuter surgery, rabies and 7-in-1 combination vaccinations, and parasite treatment — with a NT$0 adoption fee.

Miaoli County Animal Protection Education Park (苗栗縣動物保護教育園區) is operated by the Miaoli County Animal Protection and Disease Prevention Office (苗栗縣動物保護防疫所). Located in Tongluo Township — the county's only public animal shelter — the facility has a legal capacity of 371 dogs and 120 cats and serves all townships of Miaoli County. Formerly known as the Miaoli County Ecology Conservation Education Center, it was renamed in 2022 and updated its opening hours in October of that year. The shelter is situated in a mountain area of Tongluo Township and requires navigation via local road signs rather than a standard street address. Note that the Miaoli County Animal Protection and Disease Prevention Office administrative office is located in Miaoli City — a separate address — and visitors coming to adopt should go directly to the Tongluo Township shelter. Miaoli County has run a therapy dog program in which shelter dogs are trained to become therapy animals supporting counselling services, making it one of the few public shelters in Taiwan to systematically rehabilitate shelter dogs into working service dogs.
