Before you visit
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a government-issued ID (ID card or driver's license)
- Prepare photos or video of your home environment — indoor and outdoor. If multiple people want the same animal, photos are mandatory on the spot for the draw
- For cats: document your escape prevention measures (window screens, safety latches, etc.) and bring a hard-sided carrier
- For dogs: bring a leash or harness and arrange private transport — car or taxi. Public transit is not recommended
- Renters: bring written proof of landlord consent (rental contract or chat records)

Visit and choose your animal
- Arrive during open hours and browse adoptable animals in the viewing area
- Once you have chosen an animal, go to the office and notify a staff member

Application and home review
- Complete the adoption application at the office and present your home environment photos
- Staff will conduct a brief review interview to confirm your living situation and care plans
- If multiple applicants want the same animal, a draw will be held

Complete paperwork and take your pet home
- Adoption is free of charge
- Complete pet registration paperwork at the office
- Transport your pet home by private car or taxi — public transit is not recommended

Legal obligations after adoption
- Spay/neuter: required by law unless a licensed vet provides a medical exemption. Fine up to NT$250,000 for non-compliance
- Annual rabies vaccination: required unless a vet certifies the animal is unfit. Fine up to NT$150,000
- Microchip registration: must be completed within 4 months of adoption
- Dogs must be leashed in public at all times. Fine up to NT$15,000

30-day trial period
- Within 30 days of adoption, if you are unable to continue caring for the animal, you may return to the shelter to complete a surrender process
- After day 30, apply at the shelter for a pet insurance subsidy — up to NT$1,500 for standard adoptions, up to NT$3,000 for special needs dogs such as amputees or mobility-impaired animals
