Contact the shelter before travelling to Penghu
- Browse available animals in advance at pet.gov.tw — filter by Penghu County
- Call the shelter (06-9213559) to confirm the animal you are interested in is still available, confirm opening hours, and understand the adoption process
- Plan how you will transport the animal back to mainland Taiwan — both domestic airlines and ferry operators allow pets on board, but requirements vary. Confirm with your carrier in advance

Visit the shelter and choose your animal
- Visit during open hours (Tuesday to Saturday) at Nos. 260–261, Wukan Village, Magong City
- Browse the dog and cat areas and choose an animal

Complete adoption paperwork
- Bring a government-issued ID and complete the adoption application
- Adoption is free of charge

Arrange spay/neuter at a partner clinic within the required period
- Adopted animals must be brought to a veterinary clinic for spay/neuter surgery within the required period after adoption

- Spay/neuter: required by law unless a licensed vet provides a medical exemption
- Annual rabies vaccination: required each year
