Contact the shelter before travelling to Kinmen
- Browse available animals in advance at pet.gov.tw — filter by Kinmen County
- Call (082) 336-625 to confirm the animal you are interested in is still available, confirm hours, and understand the adoption process
- If planning a weekend visit, book your appointment by phone in advance
- Plan how you will transport the animal back to Taiwan — confirm pet transport rules with your airline in advance

Visit the shelter and choose your animal
- Go to No. 20, Yumin Farm, Jinhu Township (within the Animal and Plant Disease Prevention Office)
- Browse the shelter's housing areas and choose an animal
- Puppies and adult dogs are housed separately; healthy animals are kept apart from sick ones

Complete the adoption paperwork
- Bring a government-issued ID and fill out the adoption application form
- Adoption is free of charge

- Microchip implantation and pet registration
- Rabies vaccination

Legal obligations after adoption
- Spay/neuter: required by law unless a licensed vet provides a medical exemption
- Annual rabies vaccination: required each year
