1. Visit the park and choose your animal
   • Visit during open hours — Tuesday to Saturday
   • Bring a government-issued ID (minimum age generally 20 — confirm by phone)
   • Use the large interactive exercise area to spend time with dogs before deciding — this is a key feature of Yanchao's design
   • Browse the suite-style dog kennels and cat area and choose an animal
2. Complete the adoption application
   • Fill out the adoption application form and any required declarations at the office
   • Present your ID for staff verification
3. Complete animal registration
   • Staff will assist with microchip implantation and pet registration
   • Adoption is free of charge
4. Arrange spay/neuter at a partner clinic
   • The Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office provides a list of partner veterinary clinics for post-adoption spay/neuter with a government subsidy — ask staff for the current list
   • If the animal has not been spayed/neutered, it must be completed within the required period after adoption
5. Take your pet home safely
   • Dogs: bring a leash or appropriate carrier
   • Cats: bring a hard-sided carrier to prevent escape during transport
   • Yanchao District is inland — driving is recommended for transport
6. Legal obligations after adoption
   • Spay/neuter: required by law — Kaohsiung City has an online exemption reporting system for pets that cannot be neutered for medical reasons (livestock.kcg.gov.tw)
   • Annual rabies vaccination: required each year
   • Microchip registration: must be completed within 4 months of adoption
   • Dogs must be leashed in public at all times
