Prepare before visiting
- Download and complete the self-assessment form from the official website (animal.taichung.gov.tw) before visiting
- Honestly consider whether your living situation, schedule, household, and budget are suited to a pet
- Bring a leash (for dogs) or a hard-sided carrier (for cats). For medium or large dogs, a car is strongly recommended for transport

Arrive at the shelter and take a number
- Arrive after 1:30 PM and no later than 3:30 PM — bring your completed self-assessment form and ID to the service center to take a queue number
- Wait in the designated seating area; if your number is called while you're away, you will be moved to the back of the queue

Complete paperwork at the service center
- Required: self-assessment form, government-issued ID (if sending a representative, a signed authorization letter is required)
- Staff will assist with adoption paperwork and confirm your suitability as an adopter

Collect your pet from the kennel or cat room
- Once paperwork is complete, proceed to the kennel or cat room with your documents and leash or carrier — staff will assist
- All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, registered, and vaccinated against rabies — adoption is completely free

Obligations after adoption
- Spay/neuter: already completed before adoption — no further action needed
- Annual rabies vaccination: required each year
- Microchip registration: already completed at time of adoption
- Dogs must be leashed in public at all times
🚗 GO Happiness Home Delivery Service
Adopters of medium or large dogs may apply for the "GO Happiness Home Delivery" service — the shelter arranges a vehicle to transport the dog directly to the adopter's home within the Greater Taichung area. For areas outside Greater Taichung, ask shelter staff at the time of adoption.
