1. Visit the shelter and choose your animal
   • Visit the Hsinchu County Animal Protection Education Park during open hours
   • Browse the dog kennels and cat interaction area freely and notify staff once you have chosen an animal
   • Applicants must be adults and bring a government-issued ID
   • If multiple applicants want the same animal, a public draw will be held, combined with adopter eligibility review and a pet care knowledge test
2. Pass adopter eligibility review
   • Staff will review your current pet ownership situation and overall suitability as an adopter
   • Special adoption events (such as mass adoptions or confiscated animals) may require a separate pet owner responsibility test — check individual event announcements
   • Some adoption events restrict eligibility by residence area (e.g. Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli region only) — check the specific event notice before applying
3. Complete the application and animal registration
   • Fill out the adoption application and any required declarations
   • Staff will assist with microchip implantation, pet registration, and rabies vaccination
   • Adoption is free of charge
4. Take your pet home safely
   • Dogs: bring a leash or appropriate carrier
   • Cats: bring a hard-sided carrier to prevent escape during transport
5. Legal obligations after adoption
   • Spay/neuter: required by law — if the animal is too young at time of adoption, call the shelter within six months to schedule a complimentary spay/neuter procedure
   • Annual rabies vaccination: required — if the animal is too young at time of adoption, return within the specified period or arrange at a private clinic and report back to the shelter
   • Microchip registration: must be completed within 4 months of adoption
   • Dogs must be leashed in public at all times
   • The shelter will follow up by phone or online survey after adoption to confirm the animal's welfare

🛡️ "Stray Love Comes Home" Adoption Subsidy Program (浪愛回家醫把罩)
Adopters receive up to NT$3,000 per animal toward veterinary care, pet insurance, and health checks — submit receipts or insurance documents to apply. Adopters also receive discounts at participating local pet businesses covering consultations, medical treatment, grooming, and boarding. Contact (03) 551-9548 ext. 402 for details.
