Hsinchu City's adoption process requires two visits — the education course and evaluation on the first visit, adoption completion on a second visit approximately one week later. 1. First visit: Tour the park and complete the pet owner education course
   • Visit during open hours — entry is free and open to all, no adoption intent required
   • Browse the dog kennels and cat interaction room and identify an animal you are interested in adopting
   • Register for and attend the on-site pet owner responsibility course (approximately 30 minutes)
   • Course times: Monday to Friday at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM; Saturday at 11:00 AM
   • After the course, staff will conduct an adoption evaluation to assess your suitability
   • If you already have pets at home, their microchip registration must be completed before you can adopt here
2. Wait for notification (approximately one week)
   • After evaluation, shelter staff will contact you by phone within approximately one week to notify you of your adoption eligibility
   • Same-day or immediate adoption is not possible — plan for at least two visits
3. Second visit: Complete adoption paperwork
   • Bring your government-issued ID and complete the formal adoption paperwork
   • ⚠️ Microchip fee: some visitor accounts mention a NT$300 microchip fee — confirm the current fee structure with the shelter before visiting, as policies may have been updated
   • Bring a leash (for dogs) or a hard-sided carrier (for cats)
4. Veterinary procedures
   • Rabies vaccination
   • Spay/neuter surgery (if the animal is too young at time of adoption, a return appointment will be scheduled — the cost is covered by the shelter)
   • Microchip implantation and pet registration
5. Legal obligations after adoption
   • Spay/neuter: required by law — if not done at time of adoption, the shelter will schedule a free return appointment
   • Annual rabies vaccination: required each year
   • Microchip registration: must be completed within 4 months of adoption
   • Dogs must be leashed in public at all times
